This policy explains what information musicprofileviewer.com ("Music Profile Viewer", "we") handles when you use the site and its tools, where that information goes, and the choices you have.
The short version
- We don't run accounts or a database. There is no signup, and your listening stats are not saved on our servers.
- Your stats load in your browser. When you sign in to a tool, your browser talks directly to Spotify, Apple or Google, and the results are shown on your screen.
- We never see your password. Sign-in happens on the platform's own login page.
- The site uses Google Analytics and shows ads. Those services use cookies, as described below.
Who we are
Music Profile Viewer is an independent website with free, read-only music stats tools and guides. It is not affiliated with Spotify AB, Apple Inc., Last.fm or Google. You can reach us through the contact page.
What the tools access
Spotify
The Spotify tool uses Spotify's official sign-in (the Authorization Code with PKCE flow). Spotify asks you to approve read-only access to:
- Your account details, including your display name, email address, country and subscription type
- Your top artists and tracks
- Your recently played tracks
- The artists you follow
- Your playlists, including private and collaborative ones
The tool uses this to show your stats on the page. It cannot change your account, playlists or follows.
Apple Music and YouTube Music
Where these tools are available, sign-in happens on Apple's or Google's own page, and access is read-only. The YouTube Music tool asks Google for read-only access to your YouTube account (the youtube.readonly permission). Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Last.fm
The Last.fm tool needs no sign-in. The username you type is sent to the Last.fm API to fetch that public profile's stats.
Where your data is kept
The tools run in your browser. When you sign in to Spotify, the access token Spotify issues is kept in your browser's session storage, which is cleared when you log out or close the tab. Your stats are not sent to our servers, and we don't sell, share or keep them.
You can remove the Spotify tool's access at any time from your Spotify Apps page by clicking Remove Access. For Google, use your Google Account third-party access page.
Analytics, ads and cookies
Like most websites, this one uses third-party services that can set cookies or collect standard device data, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit.
- Google Analytics measures page traffic, such as which pages are visited and how people arrive. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
- Mediavine manages ads on this site and runs Grow, which adds on-site features such as saving favorite pages. Mediavine and its advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads. See the Mediavine Legal and Privacy Center. You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google in Google Ads Settings, and opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info.
- Google Fonts serves the site's font, so your browser requests it from Google's servers.
- Firebase Hosting (Google) serves the site and processes standard request data, such as IP addresses, to deliver pages.
To learn how Google uses this data, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The tools still work without advertising cookies.
The contact form
If you send a message through the contact page, your name, email address, topic and message are delivered to our inbox by Web3Forms, a form delivery service. We use them only to reply to you, and we don't add you to any mailing list.
Your choices and rights
- Use the tools without ad personalization by changing your Google Ads Settings or blocking cookies.
- Revoke the Spotify or Google access you granted, using the links above.
- Ask us what information we hold about you from a contact form message, or ask us to delete it, through the contact page.
Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR or California's CCPA may give you further rights, such as access, correction and deletion. Because we don't keep your listening data, most requests will concern contact form messages or the cookies set by the services listed above.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
