Your Spotify profile is more editable than it looks — you can change your display name and photo, control what's public, and grab a shareable link. Here's everything you can edit and where each setting lives.
Quick answer: On mobile, tap your profile picture → View Profile → Edit, where you can change your display name and profile picture. Other profile controls (privacy, which playlists appear, your display name on desktop) live in nearby menus. There's no bio field for regular listeners — only artist profiles have bios.
How to edit your profile on mobile
- Open Spotify and tap your profile picture (top-left).
- Tap View Profile, then Edit.
- Change your display name and tap your photo to change your profile picture.
- Tap Save.
How to edit your profile on desktop
- Open the Spotify desktop app.
- Click your profile name (top-right) → Profile.
- Hover over your name or picture to reveal edit options, then update and save.
The browser web player has limited profile editing, so the desktop app or your phone is the most reliable place to make changes.
What you can (and can't) edit
- Display name — yes, change it anytime. Need inspiration? See Spotify profile name ideas.
- Profile picture — yes. Full walkthrough (including the artist/DistroKid case): how to change your Spotify profile picture.
- Which playlists appear — you choose which public playlists show on your profile. If one's missing, see why your playlist isn't showing on your profile.
- Privacy — you can limit what's public: how to make your Spotify profile private.
- Bio / username — regular listeners can't add a bio or change the underlying username (only the display name). Artists get a bio via Spotify for Artists — see how to create & claim your artist profile.
How to share your Spotify profile
To share your profile link: open your profile → three dots (⋯) → Share → Copy link to profile. That link opens your public profile — the same view anyone else sees. You can paste it into your Instagram, TikTok, or X bio so people can find and follow you.
