If your YouTube Music Recap is not showing, the usual reasons are simple: it is not that time of year yet, the rollout has not reached your account, your app is out of date, or you have not clocked enough listening time to qualify. Recap is seasonal and staggered, so a blank screen in the middle of the year is normal, and even in December it can take a few days to reach everyone. Recap is YouTube's version of Spotify Wrapped. Plenty of people search "youtube music wrapped," but Wrapped is Spotify's name. First, is it even Recap season?

This is the single most common reason people see "no YouTube Music Recap" and assume something is broken. Recap is not a permanent page you can open in July. It is a seasonal feature that goes live once a year, usually in late November or early December, and stays up for a limited window before it disappears again.

For the 2025 season, the YouTube Music Recap began appearing for users around late November, and the broader YouTube Recap started rolling out on December 2. So if you are looking now and finding nothing, the calendar is probably the answer. If it is December and you still have nothing, keep reading, because now the fixes actually matter.

Fix 1: Wait out the rollout (it is staggered by region)

YouTube does not flip a switch for everyone at once. The 2025 Recap went to North America first, on December 2, with the rest of the world following "this week," according to YouTube's own guidance. That means two people in different countries can open the same app on the same day and only one of them sees a Recap.

Around every launch, the r/YoutubeMusic community fills up with "where is my recap" posts from people who have clearly earned one and just have not been switched on yet. Tech coverage of the early 2024 rollout even pointed to a Reddit user who had spotted their Recap before the official announcement, while most accounts were still waiting. The takeaway is the same each year: if the feature exists but your account has not received it, give it a few days rather than reinstalling everything in a panic.

Fix 2: Update the YouTube Music app

Recap ships inside the app, so an old build may not have the code to render it. This is the most repeated fix in every troubleshooting guide for a reason, because it quietly resolves a lot of "not loading" cases.

Open the App Store or Google Play, search for YouTube Music, and install any pending update. Force close the app afterward and reopen it. While you are there, updating the main YouTube app helps too, since the 2025 Recap is partly surfaced through YouTube's own "You" tab.

Fix 3: Make sure you have listened enough to qualify

You cannot get a Recap for an account that has barely played anything. YouTube sets minimum listening thresholds, and if you fall short, the Recap simply will not generate. This is the real reason behind a lot of "why is my YouTube Music Recap not showing" searches, especially for casual or newer listeners.

Per YouTube's own help documentation, an end of year Recap needs at least 10 hours of music listening across YouTube platforms between January 1 and November 15, plus at least 5 songs you played on repeat. Seasonal recaps have a lower bar of around 4 hours of listening for that season. If you mostly stream music somewhere else and only dip into YouTube Music now and then, you may genuinely not meet the cutoff, and there is no fix for that beyond listening more.

Fix 4: Check that your watch history is on

Recap is built from your history. If YouTube cannot see what you played, it has nothing to summarize. Two settings quietly break this:

Head to your Google Account activity controls, confirm YouTube history is active, and check that auto-delete is not set to wipe everything older than a few months. Turn history back on and keep listening, and future Recaps will have something to work with. This will not retroactively rebuild a year you deleted, though.

Fix 5: Confirm you are on the right account

If you have more than one Google login, a brand account, a work profile, a family member's account on the same device, it is easy to land on the wrong one. Recap follows the account with your personal watch history, and YouTube's guidance is explicit about signing into "your primary YouTube account (the one that has your personal watch history)."

Tap your profile photo, check which account is active, and switch if needed. A surprising share of "no Recap" complaints come down to a person looking at an empty secondary account while their real listening lives somewhere else.

Fix 6: Rule out account type and region

Recap is not offered to every account. Children's accounts, supervised accounts, and viewers under 13 are excluded, so a kid's profile or a Family Link account will never show one. Some card types are also limited by region, and the 2025 award cards, for example, were United States only. If you are on a restricted account type or in a region that is still waiting, there is nothing to fix on your end, and the feature will either arrive later or not at all for that profile.

Fix 7: Clear the glitch (cache, restart, reinstall)

If it is the right season, the right account, and you clearly qualify, but Recap still will not load, treat it as a normal app hiccup. Force close YouTube Music and reopen it. Clear the app's cache from your phone settings. Check that you actually have a working connection, since Recap cards pull in live. As a last resort, uninstall and reinstall the app. None of this is glamorous, but a stuck or half loaded Recap often clears with a clean restart.

Recap playlist not showing?

One specific version of this problem: the Recap cards appear, but the auto-generated playlist of your top tracks does not. That playlist is created for you and lives in your library, so if it is missing, pull to refresh your library, make sure the app is updated, and give it a little time to populate. It sometimes lags behind the cards by a day or two during a busy rollout.

How to see your YouTube Music Recap on PC or desktop

Here is the honest part, because this is where a lot of guides get vague. For years, the YouTube Music Recap was a phone-only affair. The full swipe-through experience lived in the mobile app, and the desktop web player at music.youtube.com had no real equivalent. If you only had a laptop, you were mostly out of luck.

That changed for the 2025 season. YouTube rolled out a unified YouTube Recap that you can open on a computer at youtube.com/recap, and it includes your music. On desktop you head to that URL; on mobile you can also reach it through the You tab in the YouTube app. The Recap shows your top artists and songs, and if you have logged at least 10 hours of YouTube music listening, YouTube says you get "a deep dive on your year in audio" as part of it. Google's help center now even has a dedicated Computer tab for viewing your Recap, which did not meaningfully exist before.

So the accurate answer to "youtube music recap on PC" is this. The dedicated, standalone Music Recap is still easiest and most complete in the YouTube Music mobile app. But as of the 2025 season, you can genuinely see your music highlights on a desktop through youtube.com/recap, signed into your primary account. If that page is blank, it is almost always one of the same reasons above: wrong season, staggered rollout, wrong account, or not enough listening.

The catch nobody mentions, and what to do the rest of the year

Even once you fix all of this, Recap has a built-in limit. It only exists for a few weeks a year, and then it is gone until the next one. There is no "open my Recap in July" button, which is exactly why searches for this spike and then vanish with the season.
